When we brainstormed the concept for Let’s Get Niche we knew we wanted to make it something fun, and weird, but also tie it back to design or branding. Octopuses encompass that goal.

As we learned about the ancient cephalopod, not only were we amazed by how wildly different they are from us. We learned that as the documentary My Octopus Teacher would suggest, we can learn a lot from these creatures. They are adaptable, creative, flexible, and take in information using all of their senses. If that doesn’t sound like a job description for a designer I don’t know what does.

Not only does this documentary leave you feeling inspired about octopuses and their creativity, ingenuity and resiliency but also about your relationship with nature as a whole, and all you can learn.

Fun fact! Octopuses can swim, jet, crawl AND walk with two legs. And yes, them walking is just as cute as you can imagine.
